Thanks Pete, I'll check out Emergence! I find the topic a bit mind-bending in general, especially since I've spent my adult life tinkering with very predictable software systems. There's much about the human brain that's not explainable based on what we currently know, including creativity. If emergence is something that happens based on scale, then what does that tell us about the Sperm Whale, whose brain is 9kg when compared to our own at only 1.4kg? Maybe weight isn't the defining factor, but it at least leads to me wonder.
